This is the time of year for magic.
The goldenrod reminds me of fairies' wands. The Japanese honeysuckle reminds me of the creature that came from the Hellmouth when the Master was freed. (Buffy reference)
The broomsedge in the neighbor's field is brown during the day, but late in the afteroon, towards sunset, it changes as if by magic. It turns to a glowing gold, almost as though it was on fire.
and a view of the whole field from beside the horse pasture. The color of the broomsedge is even more vivid in real life than in the photos. The gold of the late afternoon light is captured and transformed by the grass.
How else besides magic could a common weed be so transformed?
Hi Sweetbay~~ So this is the area surrounding your home? Wow. So peaceful. I love the pasture light and the trees in the distance. And of course the garden in the foreground. What a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how a meadow can make such a large statement like that.
ReplyDeleteHi Sweet Bay, there is nothing like an expanse of grass in a field with woods behind and a nice fence in front. A thing of beauty and mystery! :-)

Good lighting!! Ask any actor about transformation with lighting! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Sweetbay. I think the autumn angle of the sun really creates great shadows and light.
I can easily imagine faeries carrying goldenrod wands;) Fall does have a magic feel...that is, when it stops raining. If it ever does.

This is what I love about the sunlight in the Autumn, it seems to bring out the best colors in all plants. And the sunrises are always the best here in the mountains in the fall. I always have my camera ready!
ReplyDeleteNeat post!
Rosey
Beautiful photos, Sweet Bay! I love the colors of fall!
ReplyDeleteThe light is magic too... what a lovely field with a wide path for all sorts of passage. Imagination is a wonderful thing... I have never seen goldenrod in that way but will think of you when and if I do. Hellmouth is an unknown plant to me ... should I look it up? Carol
ReplyDeleteMagic for sure. And from a distance who says it a weed. We simply must enjoy the magic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful area you live in. It surprises me too when weeds are actually beautiful. Sadly, not often enough....
ReplyDeleteThe light does create magic as you can see in your beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice thing to look out over a meadow. Make the most of the light before the steely winter comes.
ReplyDeleteFields of gold and brown and oh so beautiful in photos but I can just imagine how much more in person standing there observing!!
ReplyDeleteYou showed the beauty of this side of Autumn!
I love the weeds in Autumn! I'm constantly thinking as I'm hurriedly driving to and fro that I wish I could take a picture of this and this and...
ReplyDeletean afternoon walk before dusk would be a delightful way to end a nice autumn day... you're so lucky :)...
ReplyDeleteLOL, I prefer a chainsaw as my wand, but that's just me! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGarden and pasture are both beautiful, peaceful scenes. I think I see a solar panel for your fence... looks just like ours.
ReplyDeleteLighting can really enhance and transform the ordinary, can't it? These photos are lovely but I'm already enthralled with your garden and the surrounding countryside. I wish we still had even a little bit of green like I see in your photos tho. :-( The winter landscape arrived much too early this year...
ReplyDeleteThank you too for your nice wishes and comments concerning my daughters recent hospitalization. It was reassuring to read your comment about how long it takes to recover from pneumonia. No one else in our family has ever had it so we are all still muddling thru and trying to figure it out.
