Swamp sunflower (Helianthus angustifolius) is even more vivid
than Bidens, if that's possible, because it's more of a golden color.

It's not Halloween yet, but this flower always reminds me of Nancy Byrd Turner's poem "Black and Gold".
There is the amazing gleaming purple of American beautyberries
and the ethereal color of aromatic aster, now about half open.

Your pictures are so pretty! They look great enlarged like this. I hope my Beautyberry grows up to look like yours, it's just loaded with berries. The Ruellia is very pretty, I don't think I've seen that before. You've introduced me to quite a few new flowers.

ReplyDeleteRaingardener, the berries of American Beautyberry are pretty good size -- not as big as a holly berries but bigger than those of the Asian beautyberries. Did you get much rain late summer/ early fall?

ReplyDeleteLove the Ruellia! Our butterfly bushes have stopped blooming here, but the beauty berries are not quite ready yet. (I LOVE that shrub, incidentally, gorgeous color fruit!)
