Lindheimer's Muhly is not a haze of purple cotton candy like Muhlenbergia capillaris or filipes, but it's very elegant in its own right, being a slender grass with 4-5 foot tall feathery flowerheads. Some years the show is very short, but this year the inflorescences kept their color for a long time.

Beautiful plant. Seems like it looks good for many months. I love plants like that. -Jackie
ReplyDeleteHi Sweetbay~~ Okay, here's one for the wishlist. Your last photo completely sold me. I love the uniqueness of the inflorescens. More narrow than Miscanthus and taller and fluffier or looser than Pennisetum. It almost looks like a scaled down pampas grass. A winner for sure. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSweet and graceful grass. So beautiful in form and coloring. Lovely Photos. Have a nice week end!
ReplyDeleteLovely grass an great shots. Have a nice friday.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I LOVE that. It is so lacy, and frosty looking. Love the sparkles and how they look like wands.

It is pretty. You really can't go wrong with ornamental grasses (unless they are aggressive self seeders). This sways so nicely.
ReplyDeleteNice grass, it certainly does have a silvery sheen to it in the sunlight. Looks like a nice addition to the garden.
ReplyDeleteSeeing you first and last shots inspire me to see if I can grow this plant here... most likely as an annual... very stately and lovely photos. Carol
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! The blooms on my clump are sparse this year. I probably need to move some to another spot because when it's happy those blooms are gorgeous:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty grass! I'm trying to learn more about grasses before planting any--this one definitely looks like a great candidate for my garden.
ReplyDeleteVery graceful looking grass. I like the lighter color foliage, it would go well with purple or white.
ReplyDeleteLove it.

Very different from the pink cotton candy variety I see in other posts. I'll have to see if this one is hardy in my area. The pink one is not.
