This late in the year all of the pollinating insects descend on the few remaining flowering plants that are left. Honeybees, yellow jackets, bumblebees, carpenter bees, and the remaining butterflies all crowd together. The two plants currently in full bloom are aster "Miss Bessie" and groundsel trees, both of which we have in great number.

Oh wow, those are beautiful! The colors are breathtaking! I never knew there were such vibrant flowers blooming in the fall.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dave. :)
ReplyDeleteI got Aster "Miss Bessie" from Niche Gardens (mail order nursery) in Chapel Hill. It's the last perennial to bloom in my garden.
A lovely aster and one I need to research. I plan to add a couple to my garden next spring.
