omg, Sweet Bay ~ you've outdone yourself again with these pics!!!! That last one is certifiably print & frame material! They are adorable and you're so right about the bright color of the males. They always make me think "tropical" ~ does that make sense?
Wow! What beautiful pictures. Bluebirds are the one bird I most want to see in person. We have them in the mountains here, but they are still pretty uncommon. I can't believe the blue of the male, but the female is just as sweet.

SweetBay, I enjoyed your bluebirds! Not seen any here lately we usually get 4 or so in the spring. An Eastern Phoebe has been the director at the front bird feeder here.
You have so many bluebird visitors! We only get a few sightings a season, despite putting up several bluebird houses (the house sparrows dominate) What do you do to attract them, anything? Your shots are incredible!
Both we and the neighbors have birdhouses... there's also a lot of undeveloped woodland down here, together with a lot of edges, so woodpeckers provide them with nesting places too and the habitat is ideal. It's a little too "wild" for House Sparrows, thank goodness.
I have a Pentax K10 and used a 55-300mm lens for these pictures. We got the Pentax 2 years ago (first digital camera) and now me and the camera are inseparable. In fact I should have done a Valentine's Day post for it. lol Pentax is a really nice camera for the price.
I just marvel at how people such as yourself take such wonderful photos of birds. I'm thinking patience and a high powered zoom lens. Neither of which I possess which makes viewing your photos all the sweeter. I suppose having these fabulous feathered friends helps you endure the drawn out days of winter. Stay warm.
My dear I could look at these birds all day~~They are so wonderful...I am thrilled with the one or two that visit my garden...I would be in bluebird heaven in yours! gail
Don't you just love how they fluff up and look like little fatties?! I am not sure why, but they are my most 'common' bird during the winter months, these last few years. I counted 17 yesterday...male & female. When nesting time comes, they stay and keep eating, but as soon as the babies are born, off they go and I don't see them again until winter.
You have taken and shared such Wonderful photos of bluebirds! They are such cute little fellows, aren't they? They arrive here in the Spring and will stay through late Fall. (They really don't like our Winters!) I have a house all ready for their arrival this Spring - unless the little Wrens move in, first! Thank you so much for sharing your photos. :-)

That blue is very striking in the male Bluebird, I cannot deny that, I like the toffee colour too. I have to say though, I do find the female equally pretty. Thanks for sharing your pics :-D

Beautiful. I've been looking for them here lately, but they aren't coming around. I had babies in a house last year. I hope they show up soon.

ReplyDeleteWe have Kingfishers which are azure. I only ever catch a glimpse of them as they fly along the river bank but the colour is so strong.

Amazing photos, Sweet Bay! I've never seen a bluebird here, so these are such a treat--what a sweet bird. They certainly put a smile on my face.

Such pretty pics!! My daughter got a ton of bluebirds at her house just before one of the storms. I think they were eating her suet.
