Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! This post was wonderful - really put a smile on our face! These photos are great - really uplifting, we really enjoyed them. Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
Beautiful photos, Sweet Bay! I do appreciate the skippers and the sulphurs this fall, because they're about the only butterflies we have this year. Most of us in the Midwest have been lamenting the scarcity of butterflies this year; I'm hoping it's just a strange year and that they'll be back in larger numbers next year.
Enjoyed your blooms from Friday, too--I've never heard of Bidens before. They look like a coreopsis; are they a wildflower native to your area?
I love skippers, They are the happiest of critters and seem undeterred by anything but me with my camera! Great captures Sweetbay! You always have the best critter photos~~Have a sweet week. gail
My favorite photo is the one of the triplets hanging out together on the purple bloom. Butterfly bush? Your butterflies always look like they're going to flutter right out of the computer.
Driving home from North Carolina today all I could think about was all those pretty yellow flowers on the roadsides and how I'd seen the same on your blog. The skippers are wonderful-stocking up for winter perhaps.
Absolutely delightful to view and witness such precious visitors to your sweet smelling butterfly bush! I can inhale it's sweet perfume just looking at these images! Beautiful post.. salve for my soul! hugs aNNa xo
Beautiful butterflies and blooms! Are you like me? Running around after them trying to get that perfect shot?? I'm sure it's amusing to anyone watching :) but worth it when you see the gorgeous photos!
What a lovely cluster of skippers Sweet bay... great shots of those and the other critters! One never tires of seeing beautiful butterflies and through another's eye there is such variety of perception.
Wonderful pictures! I've been calling them Painted Ladies too:) The Skippers are swarming here too but I haven't seen as many Tiger Swallowtails this year as I did last year. I probably just missed seeing them.
Your butterfly photos always astound me Sweet Bay. My favorite of these is the one with the three skippers. I have to agree with Gail, you have the best camera critters.
Thank you for your comments! islandsparrow, I take the lazy way out and find a plant the butterflies go crazy for and wait. :) If I don't move they don't seem to know or care that I am there.
Gorgeous butterflies! I'm not sure if we still have them here. The butterfly bush is still blooming though so maybe we do. You took some wonderful pics! -Jackie
So lovely! Thank you! I too will miss the butterflies this winter. Your Silver Spots are really enjoying your Butterfly Bush. The photographs with the Tiger Swallowtail are lovely too. Painted Ladies ARE pretty. The wild violets are once again blooming in the yard and the last of the Eastern Tail Blues are enjoying them. Happy October, season of the ancients. Sherry
Oh, the luxury to have so many butterflies congregating!

ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
ReplyDeleteThose colours certainly are a magnet for butterflies
Love all the critters abuzz in your garden. The skippers almost look like they are part of the flowers themselves.
ReplyDeleteI made the same mistake and Randy from 'Randy And Megs Garden Paradise' gave me the proper ID of our 'Painted Ladies'.

Thank you for your comments everyone!
ReplyDeleteRose yes, Bidens are a native wildflower here, and grows in great numbers in ditches and wet meadows.
Donna, yes, that's a Butterfly Bush, Potter's Purple.
Thanks wiseacre. I seem destined to make the same mistake over and over, maybe because Painted Ladies sounds a little bit more poetic. :)
What I wouldn't give to be able to grow butterfly bushes like that. Those are wonderful photos. I enjoyed seeing your butterflies.
