Which sweets are currently in bloom?
Toothwort has lovely dark green scalloped leaves that emerge in late to mid-winter, depending on the weather, and beautiful clusters of white flowers in spring.
A wild crabapple tree at the edge of one of our fields. This is as covered in blooms this year as any cultivar.
Thank you to Katarina at roses and stuff for hosting Blooming Friday.
Nice pictures! I like the Geranium a lot. Have a sunny weekend!
ReplyDeleteSweetbay,
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, our toothwart in the woods in long gone already. Nice irises. We have white roof irises and Dwarf Crested Irises blooming. Too busy to do a post. Doing the Piedmont Farm Tour this weekend, will do a post on it.
Beautiful! I am going to keep my eye for that violet.
ReplyDeleteI looked at Jesse's Song last night to see if that is the mystery iris. Not sure. When I post it on Friday can you tell me if you think it could be that?
Dontcha just love a pretty iris! I wish they stayed in bloom the entire season!
ReplyDeleteDear Sweetbay, Don't you love finding the little toothworts and spring beauties! I love the tiarellas and phlox but those little ephemerals are a treat! Your iris are show stoppers...Have a sweet weekend...are you getting the unusually hot weather, too? gail
ReplyDeleteIsn't toothwort the cutest?
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous Iris you have already. Over here, my leaves are only about 10" tall. It'll be a while before we get any flowers. But on the up side, I'll have flowers when your's are gone:))
ReplyDeleteJesse's song is gorgeous sweetbay! I can understand that you like it.

They are all so pretty. I love crabapples, one of my spring favorites.
ReplyDeleteThank you Andre.
ReplyDeleteRandy, I noticed that Gail's Toothwort started blooming long before mine too. I'm looking forward to your Piedmont Farm Tour post.
Jamie and Randy, I too wish iris bloomed all season.
ReplyDeleteFlydragon, that's true. The beauty of the internet is that I'll get to enjoy your iris when mine are gone.
Last year I got some re-blooming for the first time, from Eleanor Roosevelt and Harvest of Memories. It was a nice surprise!
Tina, yes, I can tell you whether or not I think your iris is Jesse's Song.
ReplyDeleteGail I love Toothwort. It's turned out to be a lot more robust and showier than I thought it would be be. We're getting the warm weather too -- mid-80's today and 88 too. Very warm!
Monica Toothwort is one of my favorites. And she likes to pose for pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteTyra Jesse's Song is one of my favorites for sure. Very prolific too.
Love the irises! It reminds me I've been without them in my garden for too long. Thanks for sharing the photos.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! The Iris Jesse's song is just fabolous!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the scientific name for Toothwort? I'm not sure if I recognize it.

Beautiful blooms. Love the coloring on that iris...so lovely. Also enjoyed the butterfly and bird photos on your last post. I was surprised you have butterflies already!
ReplyDeleteJesse's song is so pretty. I used to have some so I pay attention to all the iris lovers who say it is one of their favorites.
ReplyDeleteYour crabapple is lovely. I have a wild crabapple in the pasture but it's a long time til bloom.
Marnie
