The theme of Blooming Friday this week is "a touch of white". A touch of white can make all of the other colors look that much more vivid. From this spring and summer.
The contrast of white makes the blue of this male Eastern Bluebird even more jewel-like. (Yes, that is snow in the background! :) I took this picture January 2010.)
A touch of white makes the horse's nose even cuter and look more velvety.
(All of the yellow is pine pollen which blankets the land each April.)

Thank you to Katarina at roses and stuff for hosting Blooming Friday.
Just beautiful. What is that spectacular plant in the 7th photo?
ReplyDeleteThe horse looks like it is making fun of the photographer!

It is so good to see beautiful blooms. I am like Darla what is the name of that beautiful rose in the 7th picture? Gorgeous! The Bluebird is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely photos...love the horse...love horses actually ;))
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
Your pictures are beautiful! I especially love the rose with the big cluster of little flowers. I use white phlox and a few other white flowers to add contrast to the vibrant colors in my garden. The bluebird pix are wonderful! I've never been able to catch a picture of one.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how you see each of these little touches of white. You have an eye for detail, and you've shown us how the smallest dab of white makes the entire plant (or horse or bird) pop!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I think I have to adopt that horse - what a cutie! :)
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you! A little white brings out the beauty and livens up!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
Beautiful photos! Haha...love the horsepicture!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day! / Irene
Very beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteLoved that hint of white on the first bloom.
And herein is the truth about white. Many people think it is a transition color, but actually an accent which makes up wake up and pay attention. Thanks for such a great display. Love the horse and the daylily.~~Dee
ReplyDeleteLovely touches of white, Sweetbay! Especially love those bluebird shots!
ReplyDeleteI so want to see your garden in person~I know it must smell delightful with all the roses blooming~Hope your holiday was lovely~gail
ReplyDeleteWhite does add such a nice touch of contrast, but I have to say it's a treat to see all these lovely blooms from this past year. Your horse is a cutie whether his nose is white or yellow:)
ReplyDeleteTerrific way to showcase the way white works in the garden Sweet Bay. Also great to revisit your garden in warmer days. It is the perfect treat for me tonight since it was very cold and windy here today.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, love, love the bluebird photos!
Your Rugosas are just fabulous...may plant some...once I tackle the deer issue. I am also drawn to the Veilchenblau rose.
ReplyDeleteYour horse certainly has personality!
The last photo of your horse made me feel happy all over. He's too cute for words.
ReplyDeleteYour veilchenblau is out of this world gorgeous.
There are Eastern Bluebirds here in the summer, but I seldom see one. They're so very pretty, as your photo proves.
Hope you had a pleasant Thanksgiving, Sweet Bay.

Beautiful touches of white. The bluebird is so cute. All your flowers sure look wonderful and it's so hard to believe the season is past.
ReplyDeleteI really like those soft mauve roses and the false indigo is also very pretty. I have the blue false indigo, which is a favorite, and so I wouldn't mind adding this variety as well.
ReplyDeleteI am in total lust for the daylily! And Viechenblau OMGosh, gimme, gimme!! Just fabulous! Although the winter photos are nice, I really love the summer ones. Nice horsey too!
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to see flowers blooming. It is cold here and all the leaves are falling from the trees and its getting colder. Thank you for posting some nice warm summery photos.
ReplyDeleteAll photography is extraordinarily beautiful. Love the horse poking out its tongue. We had once a milk cow which did that to us when she did not feel like getting milked!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how to spell it, but I'm oohing and awing!
