It's daylily time now in central North Carolina. I never thought about daylilies much before, but in the last year I have really fallen in love with them.
A lovely yellow noid. I keep expecting to find name tags, since I remember writing out so many, but a lot of times I don't! What happens to these things??
Red daylilies used to be my least favorite, but not anymore. 'Ruby Spider' is a truly spectacular daylily: the flowers are huge, the color doesn't fade, and it's even fragrant.
Thank you to Katarina at roses and stuff for hosting Blooming Friday.
Absolutely gorgeous flower power parade today Sweetbay!

Daylilies are lovely, and so you show. I haven`t got enough space in my Garden, otherwise I would grow more of them.
ReplyDeletesweetbay, nice collection of daylilies. I like the one Moonlight Masquerate...nice punch of color. Some of mine are fragrant and some aren't. I always come in the house with pollenon my nose...checking out the blooms. :-D
ReplyDeleteAaaaaaaah Daylilies. I can never get enough of them. I'm afraid ours have pasted their prime for this season. Your's are so lovely.--Randy
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Vermont!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing Citrina included in gardens. It's a good grower, with some good height and a nice bloom period. I notice several growers are using it as they attempt to come up with taller daylilies with more color and fragrance. An interestng challenge!

Ooh, the first, mystery lily really illustrates the difference between petals and sepals. I admit to not having too many day lilies. Ever since I pulled about 200 dead stalks per week at a client's garden I just can't bear them in my own! (But I have a lot of the orange naturalized ones which only bloom once!)
ReplyDeleteDaylilys are beautiful. The bright yellow one looks like the only one I have in my garden, a left over from earlier owners. Have a nice week end!
ReplyDeleteSweetbay,
ReplyDeleteLovely day lilies! Bet you have some serious clumbs of them out there! We have planted ours on the hill by the pond they are a mess, but no room for such big plants.
They are all so lovely! Mine are just now coming in to bloom here too. I just love them all. Hyperion is one of my favorites for it's scent and ease.
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty. I really like the red ones!
ReplyDeleteImpressive collection of daylillies and beautiful images as always.
ReplyDeleteThey are really pretty. The Hyperion looks a lot like the one I have growing. The Ruby Spider is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes very impressive indeed.
ReplyDeleteLovely collection! I cannot believe they are blooming already! Wow! Your southern garden blooms so much earlier... then again these could be early daylilies. I love the ruffled edged ones and your mystery daylily looks great with the spiderwort. Ruby Spider is outstanding!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a great parade of daylilies! I like daylilies a lot. There are so many lovely varieties. The ruby spider is stunning!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!

sweet bay your Daylilies are beautiful. I really do need to start getting some - I do have one. I especially love your mystery one and Moonlight Masquerade - just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe daylilies are gorgeous! I just planted 18 of them this past weekend. I got them as bareroot from Brecks. They may not bloom this year, but I'm hoping they will. They have already sprouted up well in the past week. -Jackie
ReplyDeleteHi Sweetbay, what a beautiful collection of daylilies! All of them are so beautiful but Moonlight masquerade and Ruby spider are really stunning! Love your photography!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog. happy gardening!
Beautiful daylilies Sweetbay! My favorites are the spiders. Don't you think Hyperion is tops; it's been around the trade for over 75 years! Nothing compared to some roses, but...pretty cool none the less. I hope you've had a good weekend! gail
ReplyDeleteI love them!
