This is Christmas Cactus, Schlumbergia bridgessii. (Note the smooth stem segments.) This wonderful plant has unfortunately pretty much disappeared from commerce. A generous fellow gardener sent me rooted cuttings three years ago. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful cactus.

Wow, that is one great looking cactus. Although mine looked pretty good this year compared to other years, it's been done blooming for a good while now.
ReplyDeleteIt's huge. I have something similar (probably not the same variety) but the bloom colors are the same. Mine is tiny, bought new this Christmas. Yours is certainly lovely in bloom.

My goodness! That is a gorgeous cactus bloom! I've never had a cactus, although I see them all the time at gardening stores, etc. Perhaps it's time I go get one!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful:)
That's an impressive plant - you must look after it very well! And that last shot - terrific!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very pleasant weekend.

That is quite unusual, I suppose for the reasons you mentioned. Thanks so much for sharing!

Wonderful pictures. I love your cactus.
ReplyDeleteIf you think this cactus is big, you should have seen pictures of the original! Very large, lol. Gorgeous in bloom. The lady who gave me cuttings of this cactus also has a beautiful Hoya collection.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is interested in trying this cactus, leave me a comment (they're moderated).
Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh wow!! Beautiful. I would be interested in a cuttng from this. New to this...so what do I need to do?
ReplyDeletemshay, give me your email address -- it won't be published. The best time for me to send cuttings would be in the spring.
