Geranium with no name and a really nice purple color.
Seedling of Geranium 'Brookside'
Transylvanian Sage
Rosa 'Nasturana'
Penstemon seedling; one of the parents is Smooth or
Foxglove Beardtongue and the other may be
P. tenuis.
The bees' antics were amusing to watch. They work so hard.
The prairie rose (
R. setigera) is in bloom. It's a monster.
Happy Friday. Today and tomorrow are going to be good days to hide in the air conditioning.
I love your pictures. I am right there with you on staying in the air conditioning this weekend. I hope you have a wonderful one. Carla
ReplyDeleteYour photography is so good ! I love the bee shots, flowers are beautiful, thanks ! Gina
ReplyDeleteThat Transylvanian sage bloom looks like little purple hummers feeding at the stalk, next to the bee! As always, your lush photos dazzle.
ReplyDeletei love that blue Geranium!
ReplyDeletea true one.
... but it's a very beautiful monster.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of the bees! And the monster rose is very beautiful. You are right. Today was hot and humid! Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteSweet bay, again, if I ever came back as a bee, I want it to be in your garden. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the AC!
I love salvia and penstemon. We've gotten a lot of rain recently so your petunia and spiderwort are really well watered in, despite my adventures away from the garden recently. The rose seedlings have grown by leaps and bounds and have to be moved into bigger pots (I don't plan to plant them out til they're a lot bigger). But those pots currently still have my tomato seedlings in them, which need to be planted out in the worst way. As soon as the ground stops being a wet sponge, I'm going to get at all that!
ReplyDeleteI have zero geraniums in my garden ~ I wonder why? I'm headed out on a garden tour today which means a stop at the greenhouses afterwards ~ maybe I'll check them out?
ReplyDeleteYou are always the best at bee photos. They must feel like they're in heaven finding your garden.
Stay cool. It's going to be in the 90's again here today but I'm touring anyway! At least no humidity. :-) plus I complained enough all winter about the cold that now I want to soak up the heat...
Geranium flowers are very photogenic. They always look so good with the beautiful coloured bands running through the blue petals. Your prairie rose is beautiful with those simple pink petals.
ReplyDeleteHello Sweet Bay,
ReplyDeleteTransylvanian Sage? I wonder where it got it's name? It is so pretty. I also love the single roses you grow. I am hibernating inside with my ac too this weekend...too hot to go outside for a couple of days :-)
PS. Thank you very much for your kind comments.
Weeee hoooo :) Lovin' these gorgeous blooms. Especially those pretty blues.
ReplyDeletegreat shots of the bees. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been having a hard time finding the time to read my favorite blogs. Soooooo glad I didn't miss the photos of your monster prairie rose.

I love the monster rose! bees are wonderfully entertaining and those big boys and girls are all buzz and no sting! gail
ReplyDeleteYour flowers all look so fresh, it's hard to believe it's hot enough for air conditioning. We're still using heat, but it looks like it should finally start to warm by the weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove the purple geranium!
Purple and pink--my two favorite colors in the garden! Your bee photos are always so good, Sweet Bay. I find the bumbles are easier to photograph--they are so intent on their work that they tend to ignore me and the camera:)
ReplyDeleteHope you survived the heat of the weekend. We've had a reprieve with some cooler weather, but the forecast shows another heat wave ahead. Looks like early morning or late evening will be the only time I venture outside:)
Love the prairie rose!
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun walk through such a color spot. Loved the bee in flight.

sweet bay - I love your geraniums! I haven't had success with penstemons; maybe I am trying to grow the wrong ones! My sister said she was able to identify her prairie roses from your pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteDear Sweet bay, I love the profuseness of your gardens and the magic of the light and colors. I read your last post and will miss seeing your gardens. I also read your earlier muse post and understand about how hard we have to work to keep our gardens from returning to the wild. As for Sylvia ... she is a bit depressing... brilliant but very sad. I hope you have a lovely summer break. Your photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers alone are gorgeous but the way you captured the bees in flight, outstanding!
